Oxford Dictionaries adds ‘duck face’ to this year’s new words list

Pop culture slang such as “xlnt” and food terms like “al desko” were also recently added, to readers’ joy (or chagrin).

Pop culture slang like “duck face” (a pout used for selfies), “simples” (an abbreviation of “simple” that’s longer than the original), “choon” (a song), “fone” (short for “phone”), “handsy” (touching others inappropriately), “xlnt” (short for “excellent), and “Canadian tuxedo” (a denim jacket and jeans combo) have been added, along with reimagined words like “hawt” (instead of the less expressive “hot”). The world’s bro population will be happy to know that man crush (a non-sexual admiration) made the list as well.
