PR guy blamed for bad publicity after Trayvon Martin shooting

Such was the case with the Sanford, Fla. Police Department. In what amounts to a buck passing of epic proportion, chief Richard Myers solely blames the department’s spokesman, Sgt. David Morgenstern, for the negative publicity they received after George Zimmerman shot and killed Trayvon Martin in February.

The story came about because of a formerly confidential memo obtained by WFTV. In it, Myers writes, “I believe a more skilled [public information officer] may well have helped the former chief craft his message more effectively.”
