McDonald’s shows that its employees can’t live on what it pays them

Partnering with Visa, the fast-food chain created an online ‘Budget Journal’ to advise workers on their finances. In the process, it advised many of them to find a second job.

The company created a website called “Practical Money Skills for Life,” in partnership with Visa. The site is intended to help employees get their finances in order. The problem is that McDonald’s doesn’t pay many of its workers the requisite living wage.

The absurdity doesn’t end there.

The following video from Low Pay Is Not OK illustrates the inherent faults, starting with the “sample budget”:

That’s right. McDonald’s doesn’t seem to think you need to budget for food, water, or clothing. Oh, and you’d be wise to live in a free-heat world.
