Code.org’s crowdfunding PR push

The organization wants every student to learn computer code for one hour. To make that happen, it’s getting creative and earning big media attention in the process.

Code.org is looking to teach the world computer science, and it’s launching an IndieGoGo campaign, along with some helpful online communications, to help make it happen.

The nonprofit is seeking to raise $2.5 million “ to introduce 100 million students worldwide to one hour of computer science,” according to its IndieGoGo page. “Beyond that, we’ll help millions to continue learning — online, or in schools where we’ll establish permanent courses and train teachers.” The IndieGoGo appeal includes infographics, videos, and charts to make the case.
