As a public relations and marketing communications firm in one of the largest and most competitive markets in the United States, Cooper Hong Inc. (CHI) recognized the need to enhance its online presence and increase visibility.

In order to reach potential clients in target markets, the Chicago-based firm created a fully optimized website that would not only rank higher for key search terms, but capture leads and increase conversions.

The six-month redesign accomplished those goals, and won the 2012 PR Daily Award for Best Use of SEO.

The firm’s writers composed more than 60 new pages of optimized, compelling and well-crafted website content and more than 100 case studies.

The lead graphic designer was focused on providing a dramatic departure from the existing layout, creating a new website with a unique design that maintained the color palette of the CHI logo, while being unique in appearance.

Its search-friendly navigation, new design and content achieved jaw-dropping results.

Before the redesign, Web rankings showed that www.cooperhong.com did not appear within the first three pages on Google, Yahoo or Bing for any industry-related keywords or any of the newly targeted keywords CHI integrated into the new website.

Just 50 days after the public launch of the new site, www.cooperhong.com showed highly improved rankings for its targeted keywords on the three search engines. The CHI website appears in first-place rankings for two of its keywords, in the top 10 results for 13 of its keywords, in the top 20 results for 24 of its keywords, and in the top 30 results for 27 of its keywords.

Site visits grew by 108.21 percent, unique visitors more than doubled, and page views increased by 62.74 percent. It also increased the average time spent on the site by 72.6 percent and decreased its bounce rate by 22.28 percent.

We congratulate the team that collaborated on the winning effort:Kate Cassidy, account executive and search marketing engineer; Justin Cate, lead graphic designer; and Brian Poulsen, lead Web developer.
