CBS News scoops Postal Service’s big announcement about Saturday delivery
CBS News reported on the U.S. Postal Service’s announcement to cut Saturday service before the organization’s scheduled press conference. Social media was abuzz, and the USPS stayed quiet for a while.
According to a report on CBS’s “This Morning,” the USPS plans to kill Saturday delivery service, a controversial move, in part, because congress has bristled at OK-ing the measure and the USPS needs lawmakers’ approval. Media reports have not said how USPS plans to confront the issue in congress.
The Postal Service had planned to fire off a press release at 10 a.m. ET when a press conference on the subject was scheduled to start.
In an email, a media rep for USPS told PR Daily: “We did not provide any media materials for release prior to today’s press conference.”
The official press release appeared on the USPS online newsroom shortly before 11 a.m. ET. It tweeted a link to the press release and posted a splashier announcement on its Facebook page.
