Snapchat filter gets negative response, execs rush to take it down

Although the social media app’s filters are constantly going viral, the organization missed the mark with a recent update. Here’s how things went down—and out.

Here’s a general rule of thumb for social media managers: If your content offends someone, react swiftly.

So much was the case for Snapchat, which speedily removed a filter that many users deemed racist.

The filter, which many dubbed “yellowface,” seemed to capture Asian stereotypes, including closed, slanted eyes.

There were a slew of critical comments on Twitter, including:
