Are you tired of tweeting, Instagramming, Facebooking and otherwise sharing about your hotel stays on social media without recognition? After all, you’re giving that hotel free PR.
A few hotel brands are now working to correct that.
Kimpton Hotels is launching Kimpton Karma Rewards, which recognizes guests for mentioning their properties on social media. Post on social media about your stay at a Kimpton property, and you could find yourself with a room upgrade, discounts on spa treatments or complementary treats from Kimpton chefs.
“Kimpton Karma will enable employees to provide more personalized perks and surprises for loyalists based on what they learn about the guest over time,” according to Hospitalitynet.org
Speaking to USA Today
, Maggie Lang, senior director of guest marketing at Kimpton, said, "Loyalty as a concept is not just about transactions. Karma is rewarding engagement."
Meanwhile, Marriott has launched its Plus Points
program, which asks you to connect your social accounts to your Marriott Rewards account. Then, when you take an action like following various hotels or checking in (the social media kind), you can earn points (up to 2,000 per 30 days).
Points can be used for hotel discounts, shopping, flights, and more.
