Here’s one of those rules (courtesy of marketing pro Christopher Ryan): The word “public” is part of public relations. What does he mean?

The target audience has always been the media and analysts — but it doesn’t have to be.

Thanks to the Internet and social media, it is easier to reach a bigger audience that could include partners, prospects, and customers.
