Presentation tools: 9 ways Prezi will refresh your next speech

Every week, Pete Codella, a PR pro and speaker, shares one social media tool that’s a great fit for PR pros.

Among the overlooked digital media tools for PR pros are presentation-sharing tools.

One of your executives deliver a presentation? You can film the speech and share it online, even live stream it, and share the digital presentation—the slides—using services like SlideShare and SlideRocket.

You can also develop a digital slideshow to tell a story that supports a news release, blog post, or event.

Prezi is a tool I recommend for sharing presentations. It’s a digital canvas that knows no bounds. Here are nine reasons I prefer it over similar tools like PowerPoint or Keynote.

1. It’s different—and that can be refreshing. In a space so crowded with PowerPoint presentations, something different is a breath of fresh air.

2. Motion, without the sickness. Yes, PowerPoint and Keynote let you animate transitions and more, but the overall presentation remains very structured and linear. Prezi brings motion from every direction and allows you to zoom in and out. It’s like a rollercoaster without a track.

3. It clears things up. Have you ever sat through a presentation where the presenter read every title and bullet point? You may take away some tidbits, but they probably won’t outweigh your frustration after sitting through a presentation you could have read for yourself. Using Prezi helps you succinctly outline your presentation and tighten your copy. It helps you convey one thought per movement.

4. Adding video is easy. As long as your computer is online when you present, embedding a YouTube video is as simple as pasting the URL into your Prezi.

5. All the photos you can handle. Using photos in Prezi is a piece of cake.
Just upload the image and decide how big or small you want it and how it fits into your presentation path. A photo could even be the backdrop for your entire slideshow.

6. Enables people to share your presentations.
All the slide platforms mentioned in this article can be easily shared or embedded. It’s important to think of the open-ended conversation focused around your presentation. Be sure the tool you use to display your slides accommodates discussion.
