New York Fed to monitor social media

The Federal Reserve Bank of New York is hiring someone to monitor social media, according to a report in Forbes magazine.

The request for proposal was disclosed last week with the intention to monitor social sites such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and blogs, as well as data from media outlets like The Wall Street Journal and CNN.

What’s the goal? Like any organization, the New York Fed wants to listen to the conversations and gain further insight into sentiment.
