Facebook simplifies privacy policy

The social media site recently unveiled “Privacy Basics,” which includes interactive guides about a variety of the platform’s features and settings.

Privacy policies are normally mired in legalese and not worth reading, but Facebook is trying to change that.

Facebook’s Privacy Basics is part of the platform’s ongoing transparency efforts to make it more approachable, and gives you pertinent details about what other users can see about you and how you can interact. But there’s a pretty fantastic catch: They do it with plain language (36 languages, to be exact).

A Facebook blog post explains:

Privacy Basics offers interactive guides to answer the most commonly asked questions about how you can control your information on Facebook. For example, you can learn about untagging, unfriending, and blocking, and how to choose an audience for your posts.
