This phrase has been engrained in my brain for as long as I can remember.

Finding an internship in PR isn’t easy, but an internship is a must-have to land your dream job.

Here are my 11 best pieces of advice to help you secure a PR internship:

Get involved.

1. Join a club. No matter what school, you can join a million clubs and organizations. Find clubs relevant to you, such as the Journalism Club or Public Relations/Advertising Club. Your school doesn’t have these? Start your own! That will look great on your resume.

2. Go Greek. You may want to get involved in Greek life. Get experience for your internship by running social media for your sorority or fraternity. Once you’re in an organization, run for the executive board and gain leadership skill, a quality admired in PR.

3. Do it yourself. If joining a club is too much commitment, do freelance writing for your college newspaper. Write articles about campus events or news stories. Display these in your portfolio.
