This year—as is the new norm—the stories we consume and share online have informed us, inspired us, made us laugh, incited outrage and drove us to take action.

From Cecil the Lion to #BlackLivesMatter, Star Wars, Caitlyn Jenner, mass shootings, marriage equality, Letterman’s retirement, the U.S. women’s soccer World Cup victory and on, 2015 has been an incredible year.

Google was there to capture it all in little bits of data, billions of queries at a time. It’s become tradition for the company to release its Year in Search findings; Facebook, Twitter and YouTube have released 2015 roundups as well.
