Pizza franchise Hungry Howie’s is rising above the rest with its approach to breast cancer awareness. The company’s annual Love, Hope & Pizza campaign has raised more than $1 million for the National Breast Cancer Foundation since it started in 2009. It’s a good example companies can follow when they’re looking to build or revamp their own charitable outreach campaigns, whether it’s for breast cancer awareness or any social or charitable cause.

Here are three lessons we can learn from the Love, Hope & Pizza campaign:

1. It’s visible.

Though thinking outside of the box for ways to promote your nonprofit efforts is a fun and rewarding method, sometimes the best ideas are inside the box—or, in the case of Hungry Howie’s, it is the box. The lesson? Sometimes, look no further than what you’re already doing.
