It’s a marvelous time to be a superhero enthusiast.
These movies are dominating the box office, offering fans of the genre a plethora of options to satisfy their taste for the fantastic.
Most recently, Sony Pictures, which owns the rights to Spider-Man, collaborated with Marvel Studios for the release of “Spider-Man: Homecoming.” The latest addition to the superhero film world grossed $117 million domestically on opening weekend, and $268 million worldwide to date.
There exists, too, a Marvel Cinematic Universe in which major Marvel movies coexist in a web of interconnected stories. “The Avengers,” which reached over $1.5 billion in worldwide box office sales, features Iron Man, The Hulk, Thor and Captain America. Their stories have been played out in stand-alone films, all of which relate to the overall universe.
