4 ways PR pros can recharge their creativity

Communicators juggle many tasks for their clients and organizations, but constantly churning out ideas and putting out fires can be exhausting. Here’s how to refresh.

As natural planners, we are skilled at charting out the most efficient way to execute all that we have to do each day, only to find it rarely goes according to plan. Luckily, we are also adept at being flexible and putting out fires as they happen.

However, amidst juggling our daily to-do lists and fire-extinguishing abilities, we can find ourselves caught up in the smoke, unable to maintain focus on the overall vision.

One of our most valued assets as PR professionals is our ability to see the bigger picture and chart the most creative, fun, unique, efficient and effective way to get where we want to go. Though we are equipped to handle anything that comes along the way, it’s important to know how to switch off “go” mode and study the horizon.

Here are a few suggestions:

1. Collaborate.

Many PR firms operate in teams so that each account has both a senior strategic lead and a tactical junior partner.

This enables one person to keep his or her head above the smoke and maintain the vision for the account. Not every PR firm or department has this setup, but there are still ways to collaborate with co-workers or other departments to accomplish goals and objectives.
