Study: Benefits of social media rivaling email among small business

No matter the popularity of social media, email has remained the top marketing channel among small- and mid-sized businesses. But, social media is catching up—fast.

As small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs) continue to adopt social media for their marketing needs, new research from Pitney Bowes indicates it’s gaining on email in terms of cost-effectiveness and ease of use.

When asked why they used several marketing tactics, US SMBs were most likely to say they chose social media marketing for its cost-effectiveness (54 percent) and ease of use (53 percent).
