Amazon is suing fake reviewers

The online retail behemoth filed a lawsuit against freelancers who write reviews of products they haven’t purchased, saying they ‘undermine the trust’ consumers place in the company.

Amazon isn’t just going after the little guy—it’s going after more than 1,100 of them.

The retail giant is suing people who use the freelance website Fiverr.com to offer to write Amazon reviews for a nominal fee. Notably, Amazon did not include Fiverr.com or anyone who paid these freelancers in its lawsuit, opting instead to name “John Does” in the filing.

Amazon certainly has the right to do so. Its review section must be seen as objectively written by folks who actually purchased the products in question.
