Recognition is a key driver of employee engagement. O.C. Tanner develops employee recognition and reward programs that help organizations do what O.C. Tanner’s slogan says to do: Appreciate great work. O.C. Tanner brought 97th Floor—a digital marketing agency—on board to grow its online presence, social authority, and site traffic. To accomplish these goals, 97th Floor created a listing, “The Coolest Companies to Work For.” A blog post on the O.C. Tanner site introduced the 10 coolest companies from a different city each month, the results determined from a review of GlassDoor and LinkedIn data; a SlideShare deck supplemented each month’s post.
Naturally, the companies that made the list tooted their own horns, sharing links to the ranking through their own social media channels, drawing considerable attention to the ranking and leading to more than 6 million impressions and a 41,000 percent (you read that right) increase in traffic to the O.C. Tanner site.
Even more important, O.C. Tanner can attribute actual sales to the campaign, which has grown so popular that companies lobby O.C. Tanner to be included in upcoming lists. Internally, it has become so popular that other departments have stepped in to support it.
