Burger King introduces Whopper with black buns

The fast-food brand is offering the revamped burger as a Halloween promotion. Consumer reactions are mixed.

On Monday, the fast food giant launched a black hamburger bun in the United States as part of a Halloween promotion.

A Burger King press release describes the $4.99 Halloween Whopper thusly:

Layered between the buns is savory flame-grilled beef topped with melted American cheese, ripe tomatoes, fresh lettuce, creamy mayonnaise, A.1.® Thick and Hearty Sauce, crunchy pickles, and sliced white onions.

Last year in Japan, Burger King tested a burger with black buns, black cheese and black ketchup. Ingredients included squid ink and bamboo charcoal.

Fan reactions for the U.S. version (which includes yellow cheese and red ketchup) have been mixed. Some people seem intrigued by the idea, while others are just disgusted:
