Chipotle’s PR problem is not so delicious

How are the burrito wizards responding to recent immigration raids at their restaurants?

This week, a Chipotle PR rep responded to news that ICE had sent notices of inspection to 60 restaurants in the Washington D.C.-Virginia area.

Chipotle spokesman Chris Arnold told the Washington Examiner on Monday:

“The unfortunate part of the system is that it puts companies in a very difficult position. On one hand, we must comply with ICE requirements to verify the status of every employee we hire, but we must do that without discriminating and violating the mandate of the Department of Justice.”

He also told the Examiner that Chipotle has “very robust” policies in place that “ensure that everyone we hire is legally authorized to work in this country.”
