Consumers drawn to percentages, not dollar amounts or buy one get one free sales

Seems that retailers who advertise low prices—“now just $19.99”—or buy one get one free offers are performing worse than those who offer percentages off a certain amount—“take another 70 percent off.” It’s all part of a “new niche of consumers” the recession has created that look to stock up on deals, according to a report by Information Resources, Inc.
