New York sues ‘Trump University’ over allegedly faulty claims
Students spent thousands of dollars, and all they got was a crummy picture with a cardboard cutout of the program’s founder.
“Mr. Trump used his celebrity status and personally appeared in commercials making false promises to convince people to spend tens of thousands of dollars they couldn’t afford for lessons they never got,” Schneiderman said in a press release statement issued by his office.
Students were allegedly lured in through free seminars that were advertised as teaching all the secrets of selling real estate, but instead sold them on expensive “Trump Elite” programs that cost up to $35,000.
Worst of all? Students who were promised an opportunity to meet The Donald himself instead only got a photo with a cardboard cutout of the real-estate magnate, the suit claims.
Trump’s attorney, Michael D. Cohen, told the Associated Press that Schneiderman’s suit is politically motivated and false, offering up student testimonials praising the program.
