Crowdsourced font mimics barista handwriting

The idea behind the font is to ‘show the pace of the job, and the originality of the people in this profession.’

Baristas may be among the world’s most unsung heroes. And as we all know, a proper hero deserves his or her own font. Enter BaristaFont.com. The crowdsourced font is the brainchild of Hanna Kregling. “I created this font from the handwriting of Starbucks Baristas,” Kregling writes on her website. “I took each letter from a different coffee cup using a lot of fake names, and with the help of some caffeinated friends. Through this I aim to show the pace of the job and the originality of the people in this profession.” It’s definitely original (and even occasionally illegible—looking at you, lower-case ‘t’!) Here’s an intro video to the font:

As the video states, the idea behind the font is to “show the pace of the job, and the originality of the people in this profession.”
