‘Feminist’ leading the pack in Time’s annual banned words poll

It’s not that people are sick of equality; it’s that they think the word is simply being used as a crutch.

Once again, Time would like to know which word or phrase you would like to ban from use in the English language.

If former winners “OMG,” “YOLO,” and “twerk” are any indication, the vote doesn’t actually banish words forever (I still twerk on the reg). But it gives some of us some strange sense of satisfaction to hate on current colloquialisms.

This year’s list includes such lexicon luminaries as “bae,” “basic,” “bossy,” “disrupt,” “feminist,” “I can’t even,” “influencer,” “kale,” “literally,” “om nom nom nom,” “obvi,” “said no one ever,” “sorry not sorry,” “turnt” and “yaaasssss.”
