Fired tech CEO defends himself after pleading guilty to battery charges

The board of advertising platform RadiumOne outsted Gurbaksh Chahal after public outcry over domestic violence accusations. Chahal called the accusations ‘frivolous.’

I could have spent another year fighting the charges against me, which I truly wanted to do for my family’s sake. I would have prevailed in this fight because the allegations by police against me were overblown and grossly exaggerated. They made good press, but quite literally, they did not hold up in court.

In that post, he also states that “my temper got the better of me” and that an argument resulted from him discovering that “my girlfriend was having unprotected sex for money with other people” (emphasis his). He said what followed was “a normal argument.” Felony battery charges against Chahal were thrown out because the victim declined to work with investigators and video footage of the alleged incident was ruled inadmissible in court. In his Monday blog post, Chahal named the five members of the RadiumOne board and said they were “ecstatic” with his decision to take a plea deal. He wrote that one of the board members, Robin Murray, advised him not to worry about social media chatter about the plea deal, and that it would all blow over.
