Get to know it: Google launches +1 to rival Facebook ‘like’

Is it the next big thing—or another Google Wave?

Look out, Facebook—Google is moving in on your territory.

On Wednesday, the search giant unveiled its answer to the “like” button, the +1.

It’s simple: When you’re logged into Google and see something in a Google search that you like—a business, news story, ad, etc.—click the button that says +1.

(You’ll need to upgrade your existing Google account to +1 stuff.)
