Goodwill drops theft charges against teenage Robin Hood

It fired the young staffer for giving a total of $4,000 in discounts to needy customers, but, drawing upon its name and mission, the charity chain showed some benevolence.

The store had sought grand theft charges against a teenage employee who was fired after it was discovered he gave discounts to “customers he thought were in need,” according to the Fort Myers ABC station. The store said the discounts totaled $4,000.

In a statement to ABC News, Goodwill said, “After completing our internal investigation we have determined that the individual’s actions were not for personal gain, but rather for the benefit of others.”
