HootSuite and Syracuse University partner to build students’ social media skills

The social media tool is providing course materials to the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.

HootSuite is a great tool for seamlessly managing multiple social media accounts, and now it’s taking its influence to the higher education realm.

HootSuite University is partnering with Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications to meet the growing demand for social media pros. HootSuite is providing its course materials to help students build their social media acumen.

Here’s what students should expect:

During the 90-day program, students will have access to HootSuite University’s online courseware, which will walk them through the fundamentals of creating and managing social profiles for businesses. After completion of the course, students will have the opportunity to earn their HootSuite Certification, which publicly highlights their proficiency and provides them with recognized credentials to carry beyond their graduation.

Those hoping to get their hands on HootSuite’s educational software will have to wait. The company’s higher education program is “currently in closed beta,” according to a press release.

The S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications was recently named the No. 1 journalism school in the U.S.
