Your kids probably know what 2014’s fastest-growing social media app was, but do you?
According to a new report from GlobalWebIndex, photo- and video-sharing app Snapchat saw its global user base grow 57 percent in 2014, more than any other social media app. GlobalWebIndex based its finding on surveys of nearly 42,000 people ages 16 to 64. By comparison, Facebook Messenger’s user base grew 50 percent, with Pinterest and Instagram registering 43 percent growth.
In August 2014, The Wall Street Journal pegged Snapchat’s number of monthly users at 100 million. The app debuted in 2011.
Snapchat is particularly popular among teens, with 35 percent of people ages 16 to 19 in the U.S. using it, according to GlobalWebIndex.
