In scuffle between NFL coaches, a PR man comes to the rescue
Did you see the brouhaha between the head coaches of the San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Lions on Sunday? The man who helped thwart the fight is the 49ers PR director.
The man filling that role, Bob Lange, found himself in the middle of the NFL’s most talked-about event from last Sunday’s slate of games. After Detroit Lions coach Jim Schwartz took exception to the spirited postgame handshake from ‘Niners coach Jim Harbaugh, Lange stepped between the two and helped thwart what could have been a black-eye for the coaches, literally and figuratively.
He even got a shout out from Sports Illustrated‘s Peter King:
“And if it weren’t for a 49er security guy and San Francisco PR man Bob Lange interceding (“WhoaWhoaWhoaWhoa!!!!!!” Lange shouted at Schwartz, in the middle of the two men, when Schwartz was about to get at Harbaugh and possibly do something he might regret for a long, long time).”
