Three years and only two-dozen books—for a president who is also writer? Geez. What is this guy, running the country or something?
Among the books he planned to read last summer: Freedom by Jonathan Franzen.
Did the president think it deserved all the acclaim? Or was he among the readers who bristled at Franzen’s bleak outlook and apparent dislike for the characters in his own book?
Not sure—guess we’ll have to wait for Obama’s memoirs to find out—but the president did have a private meeting with Franzen at the White House last October.
