IRS dance video: A morale booster, or out of line?
Republicans say a $1,600 video that was made for a 2010 agency conference and which featured employees learning a line dance was a ‘frivolous’ waste of money.

House Republicans would agree that IRS employees’ dancing in a video shouldn’t be part of their job, reports Politico. Ways and Means Oversight Subcommittee Chairman Charles Boustany, R-La., called the video “frivolous entertainment for agency bureaucrats.”
Boustany mentioned “tens of thousands” of wasted dollars, though the Associated Press reported the line-dancing video cost about $1,600. It was two other videos, parodies of “Star Trek” and “Gilligan’s Island,” that cost a combined $60,000.
The grumbling about the cost of the line-dancing video is the latest in a barrage of criticism against the agency, which has been slammed in recent weeks for scrutinizing Tea Party groups.
