Japan’s Fukushima Industries creates baffling mascot

Not only does it have the mind-blowing name ‘Fukuppy,’ it’s also being mistaken for a rebranding campaign for the prefecture struck by disaster in 2011.

It’s understandable, then, that people assumed Fukushima Industries’ new mascot—curiously named Fukuppy—would be mistaken by the Internet masses to be a mascot for the prefecture itself.

The South China Morning Post is reporting that the mascot, an egg with wings, eyes, and feet—creepily suggesting a genetic mutation—is merely your run-of-the mill corporate mascot.
