That’s a lesson McDonald’s learned last week after it aired a radio ad equating pit bulls with danger, prompting an apology from the fast food giant.
The ad for the new McBites (which you can listen to here) said:
“Trying a new menu item at McDonald’s isn’t risky. You know what’s risky? Petting a stray pit bull.”
Pit bull owners weren’t amused, and it sparked an outcry on Facebook and Twitter from dog owners of all stripes. One Twitter user said: “I will never go back to a #McDonald’s again over their negative ad on #PitBulls. Neither will my family. I will #BoycottMcDonalds.”
