McDonald’s tweets apology for being insensitive to pit bulls

An radio ad calling the dogs dangerous sparked a social media outcry, but one dog blog is giving the fast food giant credit for its quick response.

That’s a lesson McDonald’s learned last week after it aired a radio ad equating pit bulls with danger, prompting an apology from the fast food giant.

The ad for the new McBites (which you can listen to here) said:

“Trying a new menu item at McDonald’s isn’t risky. You know what’s risky? Petting a stray pit bull.”

Pit bull owners weren’t amused, and it sparked an outcry on Facebook and Twitter from dog owners of all stripes. One Twitter user said: “I will never go back to a #McDonald’s again over their negative ad on #PitBulls. Neither will my family. I will #BoycottMcDonalds.”
