Moms miffed about beer-flavored Jelly Belly

A group worried that jelly beans that taste like brew could be a gateway to future drunkenness is threatening a boycott.

Thousands are thrilled by the new flavor, but a number of people are outraged by it, saying it will encourage kids to try alcohol and could even trigger a relapse for recovering alcoholics.

Jelly Belly’s “Draft Beer” flavor is described as “effervescent and crisp … packed in a golden jelly bean with an iridescent finish.” It is, of course, alcohol (and gluten) free. But that’s not stopping some from threatening to boycott Jelly Belly. For every “this is so cool” post from fans of its Facebook page, the company is seeing an irate person accusing the company of, among other things, trying to get their kids hooked on booze.
