Musical act back out of SeaWorld performances following petitioning from fan
The theme park is losing performers for a music promotion because of online calls for musicians to watch a documentary about SeaWorld’s unethical treatment of animals.
Clearly a tough decision for the Canadian lads as it’s every band’s ambition to play SeaWorld, along with the Hollywood Bowl and Madison Square Garden.
Barenaked Ladies’ choice may have come in part as a response to a change.org petition with 12,000-plus signatures from fans and aquatic life enthusiasts encouraging the band to watch the movie and nix its SeaWorld performance. Heart made its announcement on Twitter:
Heart has chosen to decline their forthcoming performance at SeaWorld on 2/9/14 due to the controversial documentary film ‘Black Fish’.
