Nearly 100 percent of 18- to 24-year-olds use social media

Among Americans in this demographic, 98 percent visit social media sites in a typical month, according to a recent study. The big question is: Who are the 2 percent?

Among all online adults, 91 percent use social media in a typical month. That equates to 129 million people—or about 41 percent of the U.S. population.

Not surprisingly, the 18- to 24-year-old set is even more invested in Facebook, Twitter, and the like. According to the study, 98 percent of Americans in this age group use social media in a month.

On the other side of the spectrum, 82 percent of 55- to 64-year-olds visit their favorite social media sites each month.
