Officials, organizations in southern Asia turn to Twitter after earthquake

Many have used the social media platform to spread information and updates about the quake, which registered a 7.5 magnitude.

A 7.5-magnitude quake centered in the Hindu Kush mountain range hit Pakistan and northeastern Afghanistan on Monday. Tremors reached parts of India, including New Delhi.

The quake has damaged many lines of communications, but those who are able to share updates have turned to Twitter to spread updates and information.

The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre has been encouraging people to use its app, LastQuake, to report information. The center’s Twitter account is sharing reports, images from its app and other users:
