So, what did two men accused of literally clubbing a baby seal do after they were caught? They hired a PR firm.
According to a New Zealand news site, Tomoare Angoika and Matthew Botica were charged with violating the Marine Mammals Protection Act for injuring a baby seal that eventually died. The men hired a PR firm to help tell their side of the story.
The PR Department Auckland issued the following statement:
“It was not our intention to harm the seal at all. We were trying to stop the seal from drowning. We do not condone cruelty to animals and it’s distressing to think anyone would harm a seal with malice.”
