Pizza Hut offers bizarre apology for bloody bandage found in pizza

After a customer discovered the bandage baked into his pizza crust, the company offered a fairly standard apology—but then things got weird(er).

Pizza Hut is the subject of some particularly bad (and incredibly gross) press coverage in upstate New York. It involves a man biting into a piece of pizza and finding a bloody bandage baked into the crust.

From Albany’s News 10:

The couple was offered a refund for the pizza, but they also wanted Pizza Hut to pay for a blood test to be done to make sure Ken wasn’t sick, but they have yet to do that.

The Wieczerzas say the local store manager was very apologetic, but after more than 20 attempts they have still not been able to reach the Pizza Hut corporate offices. They even froze the slice of pizza, bandage included, in case they needed proof.

Pizza Hut officials did respond to the team at News 10, but it wasn’t exactly the type of apology you’d expect. A spokesman sent them the following statement:
