President Obama wins re-election

Around 11:15 p.m. E.T., the networks and the Associated Press called the race for the president.


President Obama has been re-elected to a second term, defeating GOP challenger Mitt Romney.

The networks and the Associated Press called the 2012 election for the president around 11:15 p.m. ET, shortly after it was determined he had won the state of Ohio.

Moments after the networks made the call, President Obama tweeted:

Shortly before 1 a.m. ET, Gov. Romney delivered a brief concession speech to supporters in Boston.
