Rahm Emanuel to fake Twitter feed: Reveal yourself and charity gets $2,500

Someone start a fake Twitter account with your brand’s name? Consider fighting back by taking a page from Rahm Emanuel’s playbook.

The shoo-in Chicago mayoral candidate is offering $2,500 for the propagator of the satirical Twitter account @mayoremanuel to come forward. Emanuel offered the money, payable to the charity of the anonymous one’s choice, on WLS radio on Tuesday.

The Twitter character is a gruff representation of Emanuel that cusses a lot (a lot) and talks a big game. It’s definitely not a public image Emanuel is trying to eschew anytime soon. He’s never been labeled as a “touchy feely” kind of politician—especially for anyone who read transcripts of recorded conversations with former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich.
