Robots to replace journalists? Could you pitch a story to a cyborg?

A list of the ‘next nine jobs that will be replaced by robots’ includes reporters. Don’t worry—PR professional didn’t make the list, yet.

We fell in love with them thanks to Short Circuit; we were terrified after Terminator; we wanted a robot child like Vicky from Small Wonder; and we peeked at the future when IBM’s Watson computer destroyed most of its human opponents on Jeopardy!

Now they’re replacing us at work in even greater numbers—or so people say.

The Business Insider published a list today of the “Next 9 jobs that will be replaced by robots.” The story read, “By 2013 there will be 1.2 million industrial robots working worldwide—that’s one robot for every 5,000 people.”

According to Business Insider, pharmacists, chauffeurs, lawyers, and journalists should start looking for work in a new industry. Chauffeurs? Really?
