Royal Bank of Scotland chair exits after Snapchat pictures go public

The company’s executive complained he was bored at work, but what he thought were private communications ended up bringing heavy public criticism.

Here’s what happened: Cullinan sent his 18-year-old daughter, Bridget, a series of Snapchats—the theme of which were basically, “I’m bored at work.” Everyone knows that Snapchat messages self-destruct after a certain time period, unless the receiver takes a screen grab.

Guess what Bridget did.

Not only did she take screen grabs of her pop’s Snapchats, she posted them to Instagram.

Fast forward a few weeks and Cullinan is on the outs. He’ll leave the company April 30—just weeks after being appointed to lead RBS’s investment banking operation.
