Newspaper delivers headlines to your coffee sleeve

If the day ever came when I’d have to pick between my unquenchable thirst for caffeine’s holy brew and my avid perusal of the morning news, well, let’s just say Sophie had an easier choice.

Thankfully, this day will never come to pass—at least not if Dubai’s Gulf News and Canadian-based coffee chain Tim Hortons have anything to say about the matter.

Working with Young & Rubicam, the English daily newspaper managed to sync its Twitter feed with a special printer placed behind the counter at select Tim Hortons locations. When customers order their drinks, a barista runs their coffee sleeve through the device, printing the latest headlines on the cup’s jacket.
