Sony saga: Day 18—CEO weighs in; hacker group issues press release

On April 19, Sony announced that its PlayStation Network had been hacked. Nearly three weeks later, things are getting weird.

The past couple days have been among the most eventful since Sony announced on April 19 that its PlayStation Network had been hacked.

Since that time, Sony has told consumers that the credit card information of more than 100 million users has been compromised due to the cyber attack.

Ouch.

They’ve taken a beating in the press, and now Sony CEO Howard Stringer has issued a public letter to users, saying that the network would be restored “in the coming days.”

He also addressed the criticism of Sony’s timing in communicating to its customers:
