State of the Blogosphere 2011: Fewer company blogs, more hobbyists

People are spending more time blogging than ever before, but are businesses? Here’s a look at the current state of the blogging world.

People are spending more time blogging in 2011 than they have in years past, yet only a small percentage of those bloggers blog for a company, Technorati’s State of the Blogosphere report says.

Technorati’s report surveyed more than 4,000 bloggers globally to determine who is blogging, why they blog, what they blog about, and more.

The report found five primary types of bloggers: hobbyists, professional part-timers, professional full-timers, corporate and entrepreneurial.

While only 8 percent of bloggers blog for a company, 60 percent of the blogging world is made up of hobbyists, 18 percent is professional part- and full-timers, and 13 percent is entrepreneurs.
