Study: 62 percent of Fortune 500 companies have Twitter feeds

Twitter beat Facebook and blogs as the most popular social media channel among corporate America’s heavy hitters.

A study from the Center for Marketing Research at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth reveals that 62 percent of Fortune 500 companies use Twitter, while 58 percent use Facebook and 23 percent blog.

The study also shows that of the 308 companies with Twitter accounts, Google has the highest number of followers, followed by Whole Foods, Starbucks and Southwest Airlines. It also reports that 49 percent of Fortune 500 Twitter accounts belong to those companies in the top 200.
